ZETA MU MEMBERSHIP

The honor of membership is conferred in recognition of scholarly achievements as a baccalaureate or graduate nursing student or community nursing leader. Membership assumes acceptance of the purposes of the society and participation in pursuing its goals. Membership benefits include a year's membership on the chapter and national level, membership card and certificate, one year's subscription to Image and Reflections and mailings of chapter newsletters and announcements.

Membership offers opportunities for:

~ Involvement in ongoing chapter programs of awards, scholarships, research and education.
~ Eligibility for offices, committees, voting and transfer to another chapter when moving.
~ Contributing to support of nursing research and priority when applying for National funding for approved research projects.
~ Listing the honor of membership on all appropriate records in the future and wearing the official key.
~ Collegial exchange and fellowship with nursing scholars on the chapter and national level.
~ Professional growth and leadership development through participation in chapter operations and programs on the chapter and national level.

REGULAR MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS

Regular membership is by invitation based on the following qualifications:

~ Demonstrated superior scholastic achievement, academic integrity, professional leadership potential and/or marked achievement in the field of nursing.
~ Enrolled in an accredited baccalaureate or post-graduate nursing program.
~ Have completed half the nursing component of the baccalaureate curriculum or a quarter of the required graduate curriculum.
~ Maintained a grade average of 3.00 on a four point scale in undergraduate work or a grade average of 3.50 in graduate work.
~ Rank in the top 35% of the class in undergraduate work.

A waiver of the 3.00 undergraduate grade point average requirement may be requested if other qualifications are met.

 

COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS

Community membership is by application based on the following qualifications:

~ Community nurse leader with at least a baccalaureate degree.
~ Demonstrated marked achievement in nursing education, practice, research or publication.

A degree in other than nursing is acceptable if achievement in nursing is outstanding.
