Betty Robertson Clark Riggan    (committee co-chair, printed programs)

Where did 45 years go? My UVA education has provided many opportunities and taken me far beyond my dreams. Even though I miss Virginia, but prefer the coastal life of Houston. Providing Patient Safety Education to all levels of Healthcare professionals at The Methodist Hospital keeps me busy and supports my hobby of worldwide travel. This reunion has been on the top of the Riggan Bucket list for 5 yrs.

Dallas Riggan    (event planning, MC, advertising)

I worked part-time for WBTM while attending the Danville Campus of Va. Tech.  I took a full time job at WBTM and married Randi Griffin from Martinsville, Va.   In 1977.  I moved to Arlington, VA in 1981 and worked with Mutual Radio Network for 21 yrs.  Randi died in 2000 and CBS bought Mutual in 2001 closing the Arlington Facility. I was working for Radio America Network till 2006 when I reunited with Betty Robertson Clark, moved to Texas and married my old friend and classmate from G.W.H.S. HAPPY ENDING!!!!

Os Taylor
(
committee co-chair, classmate data base)

Now after 45 years I realize it is not about getting ahead, but enjoying the friends you meet along the way, and helping others.  VA Tech opened my horizons and gave me opportunities to have two great jobs which have allowed me to live well and enjoy traveling.  I recently connected with a few classmates who thought we needed a reunion and here we are working together for more time to share fellowship and memories once again.

Linda Buck Wright    (treasurer, memorial table)

I attended Averett for while working in the office at Roman Eagle Memorial Home.  July 71, I married and moved to Elon, N.C. and worked for Carolina Biological Supply Company until my husband completed college. Then we moved to Winston-Salem, N.C. where I worked for Hanes-Knitwear/Sara Lee. We have two sons, Zachary and Benjamin. We live in Courtland, Va. where I'm at home, happy and very busy working on my oldest son's wedding and the class re-union for next year.

Cathy Calisch    (nametags)

I moved to Oregon after Tulane U. and discovered I loved the West Coast.  Oregon is my home and I have a wonderful family, great friends, and meaningful work as a Marriage and Family Therapist.  I really look forward to seeing you back in Danville for our reunion!

John Searcy    (teachers, favors)

I was born at an early age in 1949 in Danville, VA.  I studied engineering and accounting and hold a Bachelor's degree and a CPA license.  Forty years ago Carol Tedder of NC married me and together we have two wonderful sons, whom we call Scott and Kyle.  I am a student of the Bible and a follower of Jesus Christ.  My interests also include reading, NPR and participatory sports.

Ken Wyles    (memorabilia)

I graduated Virginia Tech in 1971.  In July 1970, I married my high school sweetheart Linda Dale Pruett (GWHS 1968 alumni).  We have 3 children and 4 grandsons.  We lived in North Carolina and Florida for the next seven years.  I returned to Danville in 1978 to join Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.  In my 33 year Goodyear career I have held many different management jobs and plan to retire May, 2012.

Linda Dance Lowry    (decorations)

I live in Durham, NC and have been married since 1973.  I have two daughters and four grandchildren.  My early working career was with Liggett Group.  Presently I am a Sales Manager for Digital Recorders.  I enjoy camping with my family and I am an avid Duke Blue Devil basketball fan.
Lee (Pete) Hilliard    (golf, music, media displays)
After several unsuccessful attempts at various VPI degrees, spent a couple years on the radio in DC, then saluted and had a three year run on radio & TV at the American Forces Network in Frankfurt, Germany. Interjected two years in Orlando, before returning to Germany & AFN for a five year run making TV shows, a marriage and two sons. Landed in Connecticut mid-80s, discovered corporate communications and TV WITH a budget. Divorced at the end of the 90s, married Linda  mid-00s (it IS lovelier the second time), adding two daughters, more music & Lutheran theology to the mix. Got to see Iraq in ‘03-’04, but declined the opportunity of Afghanistan. Still doing a bit of media work while trying to figure out how to swing a golf club and/or slide a guitar.

Wayne Owen    (photography, website)

After graduating from GW and Virginia Tech, I was a Naval officer for twenty years specializing in aviation and submarine logistics.  I met my wonderful wife, Nancy, a Navy nurse, during my first tour.  We have been married for 38 years, have one son, Paul, and have settled in Coronado, California.

And numerous other volunteers working hard to make this reunion a memorable event.
